Clyde McPhatter was an American singer born on November 15, 1932, in Durham, North Carolina. He was one of the most influential R&B singers of the 1950s and 60s and a key figure in shaping the doo-wop and R&B genres. McPhatter was the lead tenor of Billy Ward and his Dominoes and later formed his own group, The Drifters. As a solo artist, he achieved success with hits like "A Lover's Question" and "Treasure of Love." In 1987, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
