Dan Penn is an American songwriter, singer, musician, and producer, known for his contributions to 1960s soul music. Collaborating with Chips Moman, he co-wrote hits like "The Dark End of the Street" and "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man". With Spooner Oldham, he created songs such as "Cry Like a Baby" and "I'm Your Puppet". Penn produced "The Letter" for The Box Tops.
