Dan Tepfer is an American jazz pianist and composer born in 1982 in Paris. He studied astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh and jazz piano at the New England Conservatory. He has collaborated with notable musicians such as Lee Konitz and Ben Wendel. His significant albums include "Goldberg Variations / Variations" (2011), "Natural Machines" (2019), and "Inventions / Reinventions" (2023). Tepfer is known for his innovative approach to improvisation and blending jazz with classical music. He has received awards such as first place at the Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition in 2006 and was named "Rising Star Pianist" by DownBeat Magazine from 2011 to 2013.
