Description

'On an Island' is David Gilmour's third solo album, released on March 6, 2006. This album showcases Gilmour's personal vision, blending styles such as folk, jazz, orchestral music, and rock, all unified by his lyrical guitar playing and distinctive voice. Orchestral arrangements by Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner and production by Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera add depth and richness to the album. Guest artists include David Crosby and Graham Nash, who contributed vocals to the title track. The album was recorded in Gilmour's private studio aboard the Astoria houseboat and reached number one on the UK charts.
