David Ornette Cherry is an American musician and composer, son of jazz trumpeter Don Cherry. He grew up in Los Angeles and later moved to Portland, Oregon. His music blends jazz, classical, African, and world music influences. In 2003, he received the ASCAP-Chamber Music America Award for adventurous programming of contemporary music. Notable albums include "Organic Nation Listening Club (The Continual)" (2021) and "Celebrate the Music of Don Cherry" (2017). He has collaborated with various musicians, including his siblings Neneh and Eagle-Eye Cherry. In addition to his music career, he is dedicated to educating young musicians in world music and theory.
