David Spear is an American composer known for his work on film and television soundtracks. He began his career as an orchestrator for Elmer Bernstein on films such as "Animal House" and "Ghostbusters". In 1984, he composed the music for the documentary series "Dinosaurs", produced by Richard Jones. This series was the first of several family-oriented documentaries about dinosaurs. Spear's music for "Dinosaurs" was originally released on vinyl and cassette in the 1980s and later on CD in the 1990s. In 2019, an expanded edition featuring previously unreleased tracks was released. Spear also composed music for films such as "No Retreat, No Surrender 2: Raging Thunder" and "The Ratings Game".
