Deftones is an American alternative metal band formed in 1988 in Sacramento, California. The original lineup included vocalist Chino Moreno, guitarist Stephen Carpenter, and drummer Abe Cunningham; later joined by bassist Chi Cheng and keyboardist Frank Delgado. Their debut album, "Adrenaline," was released in 1995, followed by "Around the Fur" (1997) and "White Pony" (2000), which won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The band is known for its experimental approach to metal, incorporating elements of shoegaze and alternative rock. After the tragic death of Chi Cheng in 2013, bassist Sergio Vega joined the group.
