Del Shannon, born Charles Weedon Westover, was an American singer and songwriter best known for his 1961 hit "Runaway". Born in Coopersville, Michigan, his musical career spanned rock and roll and pop genres. Other notable songs include "Hats Off to Larry" and "Little Town Flirt". Throughout his career, he released 15 studio albums and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Shannon also collaborated with Tom Petty on the 1981 album "Drop Down and Get Me".
