Denny Zeitlin is an American jazz pianist and composer who has recorded over 35 albums and composed more than 100 original pieces since 1963. His work spans genres such as post-bop, hard bop, and fusion. Notable albums include "Cathexis" (1963), "Carnival" (1964), and "Slickrock" (2004). In addition to his musical career, Zeitlin is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. He has collaborated with artists like Joe Henderson, Herbie Hancock, and Pat Metheny. In 1965 and 1974, he achieved first place in the Down Beat International Jazz Critics Poll.
