Dick Haymes was an Argentine-American singer and actor who was one of the most popular male vocalists of the 1940s and early 1950s. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he grew up in France, Montreal, California, and Switzerland. He began his career with the Harry James and Tommy Dorsey orchestras before becoming a solo artist. His biggest hits include "You'll Never Know" and "It Can't Be Wrong." Haymes was known for his smooth baritone voice and was considered one of the archetypal crooners of his era. During his career, he sold over nine million records for Decca Records.
