Domenico Modugno was an Italian singer, actor, and politician, best known for his song "Nel blu dipinto di blu" (also known as "Volare"), which won two Grammy Awards and sold over 22 million copies. Born in Polignano a Mare, Italy, he is considered the first Italian "cantautore". Throughout his career, he won the Sanremo Music Festival four times and represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. In addition to music, he acted in 44 films and later became a member of the Italian Parliament.
