Don Pullen was an American jazz pianist, organist, and composer born on December 25, 1941. Kicking off his career in the 1960s, he collaborated with artists such as Charles Mingus, who considered him a pioneer in avant-garde jazz music. Throughout the 1970s, he was a member of Art Ensemble Of Chicago and formed his own group, the Don Pullen/George Adams Quartet. Among his notable albums are "Tomorrow's Promises" and "Warriors." His innovations in piano playing were often associated with a noisy energy and unique harmony. His irreplaceable influence on the jazz scene continues even after his death in 1995.
