Donnie Elbert was an American soul singer and songwriter who began his career in the mid-1950s. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he grew up in Buffalo, New York. In 1955, he formed the doo-wop group the Vibraharps and later pursued a solo career. His debut single, "What Can I Do?", reached number 12 on the U.S. R&B chart. Other notable songs include "Have I Sinned?" and "A Little Piece of Leather". In 1971, he achieved his biggest hit with a cover of "Where Did Our Love Go?", which reached number 15 on the U.S. pop chart.
