Doris Duke, born Doris Willingham on May 18, 1941, in Sandersville, Georgia, was an American gospel and soul singer. She began her career as a backing vocalist for artists like Nina Simone. In 1969, she released her debut album "I'm a Loser," produced by Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams Jr. The album featured the hit "To the Other Woman (I'm the Other Woman)," which reached number 7 on the Billboard R&B chart. In 1971, she followed up with the album "A Legend in Her Own Time." Duke was known for her deep soul delivery and collaborated with several notable musicians of her time. She passed away on March 21, 2019.
