Doug Scarborough is an American composer and trombonist known for his innovative fusion of jazz, classical music, and progressive rock with traditional Middle Eastern elements. In 2015, he released the album "Bridges," introducing the trombone as an instrument capable of expressively playing Arabic scales (maqamat). This was followed in 2022 by "The Color of Angels," featuring collaborations with pianist Jeremy Siskind, bassist Damian Erskine, violinist Akram Abdulfattah, and percussionist Mustafa Bozty. Scarborough's music is often compared to projects by Nate Smith, Ibrahim Maalouf, and Avishai Cohen.
