Dun-Dun Band is a ten-member ensemble from Toronto led by guitarist Craig Dunsmuir, drawing inspiration from North African gnawa music, American minimalism, progressive and post-rock, and spiritual jazz. Formed in 2016, the group debuted at Toronto's Long Winter event. Their music is characterized by unison ostinato riffs in odd meters, led by Dunsmuir on guitar, supported by bassist Josh Cole, percussionists Blake Howard and Jay Anderson, guitarist Kurt Newman, keyboardist Mike Smith, and a horn section comprising Karen Ng, Brodie West, Ted Crosby, and Colin Fisher. The band is known for its experimental approach to jazz and regularly performs at various festivals and events in Toronto and surrounding areas.
