East of the River is a New York City-based musical ensemble specializing in the interpretation of Sephardic folk and traditional music. Led by acclaimed recorder players Nina Stern and Daphna Mor, the group draws inspiration from their Jewish heritage. Their album "Ija Mia: Music of the Sephardic Diaspora" features various stories, dances, prayers, and anthems from the Sephardic tradition. Collaborating musicians include Ara Dinkjian on oud, Shane Shanahan on percussion, Tal Mashiach on bass, and Zafer Tawil on qanun, violin, and percussion.
