Eddie Gomez is an American jazz double bassist best known for his collaboration with the Bill Evans Trio from 1966 to 1977. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York, he studied at the Juilliard School. Throughout his career, he has worked with artists such as Gerry Mulligan, Marian McPartland, Paul Bley, Tania Maria, Steps Ahead, and Chick Corea. He has released albums including "Gomez" (1984), "Mezgo" (1986), and "Power Play" (1988). In 2013, Berklee College of Music awarded him an honorary Doctorate of Music.
