Edo de Waart is a Dutch conductor renowned for his clear and exciting interpretations across a broad repertoire. He studied oboe and conducting at the Music Lyceum in Amsterdam. In 1964, he won the prestigious Dimitri Mitropoulos Conductors' Competition in New York, leading to his appointment as assistant conductor of the New York Philharmonic. He later served as chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. De Waart is known for his recordings of Richard Wagner's works, including "Meistersinger: An Orchestral Tribute" with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. His career also includes collaborations with major opera houses and orchestras worldwide.
