Eduard Artemyev was a Soviet and Russian composer of electronic music and film scores. Born in Novosibirsk, he studied at the Moscow Conservatory. He was a pioneer in the use of synthesizers, notably the ANS synthesizer, which he utilized in creating music for Andrei Tarkovsky's films such as "Solaris" (1972), "Mirror" (1975), and "Stalker" (1979). His other significant works include soundtracks for "Siberiade" (1979) and "Burnt by the Sun" (1994). Artemyev received numerous awards, including the title of People's Artist of Russia in 1999.
