Edwin Birdsong was an American keyboardist and organist known in the 1970s and 1980s for his experimental funk and disco music. He released five albums, including "What It Is" (1971) and "Supernatural" (1973). His track "Cola Bottle Baby" was sampled by Daft Punk in "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and later by Kanye West in "Stronger". He collaborated with Roy Ayers on songs like "Running Away" and "Freaky Deaky". After ending his own music career, he worked as a session musician for artists like Stevie Wonder.
