Eiji Oue is a Japanese conductor who began his musical studies at the Toho Gakuen School of Music under Hideo Saito. In 1978, Seiji Ozawa invited him to the Tanglewood Music Center, where he met Leonard Bernstein, who became his mentor. Oue served as music director of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (1982–1989), Erie Philharmonic (1990–1995), and Minnesota Orchestra (1995–2002). He was also principal conductor of the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Hannover (1998–2009) and principal conductor of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra (2003–2011).
