Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou was an Ethiopian composer, pianist, and nun. Born in Addis Ababa in 1923, she studied music in Switzerland and Egypt. Throughout her career, she composed over 150 pieces for piano, organ, opera, and chamber ensembles. Her music blends Ethiopian pentatonic scales with European classical influences. Notable albums include "Spielt eigene Kompositionen" (1963) and "The Hymn of Jerusalem. The Jordan River Song" (1970). In 2006, her music was rediscovered in the compilation "Éthiopiques 21: Ethiopia Song". She passed away in Jerusalem in 2023 at the age of 99.
