Emil Brandqvist Trio is a Swedish-Finnish jazz ensemble formed in 2005 in Gothenburg. The trio consists of Swedish drummer and composer Emil Brandqvist, Finnish pianist Tuomas A. Turunen, and Swedish bassist Max Thornberg. Their music is characterized by poetic and melodic compositions that blend elements of jazz, folk, and classical music. The 2015 album "Seascapes" was nominated for an Echo Award in Germany and reached number 7 on the German jazz charts. In 2024, they released "Interludes," featuring compositions with diverse instrumental arrangements, described as a family project due to collaborations with Brandqvist's relatives.
