Enrique Granados was a Spanish composer and pianist, known for his contributions to Spanish classical music. Born in Lérida, Spain, he studied composition in Barcelona under Felip Pedrell. His most renowned work, the piano suite "Goyescas," is inspired by the paintings of Francisco Goya. Granados also composed "Danzas Españolas," a series of twelve piano dances reflecting various Spanish dance styles. In 1916, following the premiere of the operatic version of "Goyescas" in New York, he perished when the SS Sussex was torpedoed during his return to Europe.
