Ensemble intercontemporain is a French music ensemble founded in 1976 by composer and conductor Pierre Boulez, with the support of Minister of Culture Michel Guy and in collaboration with Nicholas Snowman. The ensemble specializes in the interpretation of 20th and 21st-century music and consists of 31 full-time soloists. Since its inception, it has premiered over 200 contemporary works. In 2022, it was awarded the prestigious Polar Music Prize for its contribution to advancing the world of music through its emphasis on creativity, innovation, and high quality, as well as its commitment to young musicians.
