Ensemble Organum is a French ensemble specializing in the performance of early music, founded in 1982 by Marcel Pérès. The group focuses on medieval music, including Beneventan, Old Roman, Gallican, Carolingian, and Mozarabic chants. Notable recordings include "Polyphonie aquitaine du XIIe siècle: St. Martial de Limoges" (1984), "Messe du Jour de Noël (École de Notre-Dame)" (1985), and "Josquin Desprez: Missa Pange lingua" (1986). In 2006, they released "Le Chant des Templiers," reconstructing music from a 12th-century manuscript from the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The ensemble often collaborates with musicians like Lycourgos Angelopoulos and is influenced by Orthodox music.
