Ethel Smith was an American organist known for her pop and Latin style performances on the Hammond organ. In the 1940s, she founded the Ethel Smith Music Corporation for publishing sheet music. She had a long recording career and appeared in many films. Her rendition of "Tico Tico" became her best-known hit, reaching number 14 on the U.S. pop charts in January 1945 and selling nearly two million copies worldwide. Another hit, "Down Yonder," reached number 16 in October 1951. Smith recorded dozens of albums, primarily for Decca Records. The products available from the artist Ethel Smith include CDs.
