Etienne Charles is a Trinidadian trumpeter and composer, born on July 24, 1983, in Port of Spain. His 2024 album "Creole Orchestra," his first featuring big band arrangements, topped the JazzWeek chart for five weeks. Charles is renowned for his jazz improvisation skills and deep knowledge of Caribbean rhythms. He has collaborated with artists such as René Marie and DJ Logic. In 2013, his album "Creole Soul" reached number one on the JazzWeek chart for three weeks. Charles is also a Guggenheim Fellow and a professor at the University of Miami.
