Flash and the Pan was an Australian new wave musical group formed in 1976 in Sydney by Harry Vanda and George Young, former members of The Easybeats. Their debut single, "Hey, St. Peter," reached number five on the Australian charts in 1977. They released albums such as "Flash and the Pan" (1978) and "Lights in the Night" (1980), with the latter reaching number one on the Swedish charts. Their single "Waiting for a Train" from the album "Headlines" (1982) reached number seven on the UK charts in 1983. The group was known for their synthesizer-based sound and experimental approach to pop rock.
