Flatt & Scruggs was an American bluegrass duo consisting of guitarist and vocalist Lester Flatt and banjo player Earl Scruggs. The group formed in 1948 after leaving Bill Monroe's band. They are known for their contributions to popularizing bluegrass music, notably through songs like "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and "The Ballad of Jed Clampett." Their 1957 album "Foggy Mountain Jamboree" is considered a genre classic. Flatt & Scruggs received several awards, including a Grammy for "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" in 1969. The duo disbanded in 1969, with both members pursuing solo careers.
