empty cell Forrest VanTuyl
Forrest VanTuyl is an American songwriter, poet, and working cowboy from the inland Northwest. He grew up on a farm in western Washington, tending hay and cattle. Inspired by the works of Cormac McCarthy, he pursued a cowboy lifestyle, moving to Enterprise, Oregon, where he worked with mules and cattle. His album "Old Trails," released on September 5, 2025, features songs inspired by his decade-long experiences on horseback in remote areas of the Pacific Northwest. The album was recorded with engineer and producer Clara Baker and includes collaborations with his wife, songwriter Margo Cilker. VanTuyl's style is influenced by artists like Ian Tyson and Chris LeDoux, with lyrics capturing the details of Western life.
