Franco Gulli was a prominent Italian violinist, born in Trieste on September 1, 1926. He studied with his father, a pupil of Ševčík and Mařák at the Prague Conservatory, and later with Arrigo Serato in Siena and József Szigeti in Switzerland. During his career, he served as concertmaster of the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan and the Virtuosi di Roma. Gulli was also a respected educator, teaching at Indiana University and conducting masterclasses worldwide. His discography includes recordings of works by Bach, Paganini, and Beethoven. He passed away on November 20, 2001, in Bloomington, USA.
