Françoise Guimbert was a pioneer of maloya music on Réunion Island. Born on June 7, 1945, in Saint-Benoît, she passed away on March 25, 2022, in the same city. She began her musical career in the 1970s, collaborating with musicians like Maxime Laope and Alain Péters. In 1978, she achieved her first success with the song "Tantine Zaza." In 2001, she released the album "Paniandy," which brought her recognition beyond Réunion. In 2014, she was named a Knight of the Legion of Honour.
