Description

“Freak Out!” is the debut album by The Mothers of Invention, released in 1966. This conceptual double album serves as a satirical expression of guitarist and bandleader Frank Zappa's perception of American pop culture and the emerging “freak” scene in Los Angeles. Musically, the album blends rhythm and blues, doo-wop, blues-influenced rock, orchestral arrangements, and avant-garde sound collages. Although initially received with little enthusiasm in the United States, the album achieved success in Europe and influenced many musicians. In 1999, it was honored with the Grammy Hall of Fame Award, and in 2003, it was included among Rolling Stone magazine's “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
