Franz Schmidt was an Austrian composer and pianist, known for his symphonies and oratorios. Born in Bratislava, he studied at the Vienna Conservatory. His notable works include the oratorio "Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln" and four symphonies. Schmidt was also a respected educator, teaching at the Vienna Conservatory and later becoming its director.
