Funkadelic was an American funk rock band formed in 1968 in Plainfield, New Jersey. Initially serving as the backing band for the vocal group The Parliaments, it later evolved into an independent entity. The band was known for its unique blend of funk, psychedelic rock, and socially conscious lyrics. Notable albums include "Maggot Brain" (1971) and "One Nation Under a Groove" (1978). Funkadelic was part of the Parliament-Funkadelic collective, led by George Clinton, and had a significant influence on the development of funk and contemporary music.
