Futura, born Leonard Hilton McGurr, is an American artist renowned for his distinctive style that blends graffiti with abstract expressionism. He began painting graffiti in the 1970s in New York and gained prominence in the art world during the 1980s. During the British punk band The Clash's "Combat Rock" tour, he painted backdrops live on stage. Later, he became a successful graphic designer and gallery artist. His works are part of collections in institutions such as the Collection de la Société Générale in New York and the Musée de Vire in France.
