Gary Bartz NTU Troop was a jazz ensemble led by saxophonist Gary Bartz, formed in the early 1970s. Their music blended jazz with elements of funk and avant-garde. Notable albums include "Home!" (1970), "Harlem Bush Music - Taifa" (1971), and "Juju Street Songs" (1972). The group collaborated with artists such as Pharoah Sanders and McCoy Tyner. Gary Bartz won a Grammy Award in 1997 for Best Latin Jazz Performance for the album "Habana" with Roy Hargrove. In 2024, he was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts.
