Generation X was an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976. The band is known as the starting point of singer Billy Idol's career. They released six singles that entered the UK Singles Chart and two albums that charted on the UK Albums Chart. Their music combined the energy of punk with pop melodies, distinguishing them from other punk bands of the time. After disbanding in 1981, Billy Idol embarked on a successful solo career.
