George Jones was an American country singer and songwriter, renowned for his distinctive voice and phrasing. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he recorded over 100 albums and had more than 150 chart hits. Among his most notable songs is "He Stopped Loving Her Today" from the 1980 album "I Am What I Am." Jones was also known for his duets, particularly with Tammy Wynette, with whom he recorded several successful songs. In 1992, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and in 2008, he received the Kennedy Center Honor for lifetime achievement.
