Georgy Sviridov was a Russian neoromantic composer known for his orchestral and choral works that often drew from Russian cultural and spiritual traditions. Born in 1915 in Fatezh, he studied in Leningrad under Dmitri Shostakovich. Notable works include "The Blizzard" and "Pushkin's Garland". Sviridov's music is characterized by rich harmonies and influences from Orthodox chant. He passed away in 1998 in Moscow.
