Gerry Beckley is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as a co-founder of the band America. Born on September 12, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas, he began playing piano at the age of three. In 1967, his family moved to England, where he met Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek, with whom he formed America. Beckley wrote and sang hits like "I Need You" and "Sister Golden Hair."
