Half Japanese is an American art punk band formed by brothers Jad and David Fair in 1974 in Uniontown, Maryland. Known for their DIY ethos and lo-fi sound, their debut album "1/2 Gentlemen/Not Beasts" (1980) is considered a cult classic. Other notable albums include "Loud" (1981), "Sing No Evil" (1985), and "Charmed Life" (1988). Their music often explores themes like monsters and the supernatural, influencing artists such as Kurt Cobain, who invited them to open for Nirvana's "In Utero" tour in 1993.
