Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber was an Austrian Baroque composer and violinist renowned for his innovative violin techniques and complex compositions. Born in 1644 in Bohemia, he later worked in Salzburg as a Kapellmeister. His most significant works include the "Mystery Sonatas" and "Sonata Representativa". Biber was a pioneer in the use of scordatura, an alternative tuning of the violin, which expanded the instrument's technical and tonal possibilities. His contributions to Baroque music influenced many subsequent composers.
