Henryk Szeryng was a Polish-Mexican violinist born in Warsaw in 1918. He studied under Carl Flesch in Berlin and later with Jacques Thibaud in Paris, where he earned a premier prix at the Conservatory in 1937. During World War II, he served as an interpreter for the Polish government-in-exile and performed over 300 concerts for Allied troops. In 1946, he became a Mexican citizen and began teaching at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His recordings include complete cycles of Bach's sonatas and partitas for violin, as well as Beethoven and Brahms sonatas with pianist Arthur Rubinstein. In 1970, he was appointed special music advisor to UNESCO. He passed away in 1988 in Kassel, Germany. The products available from the artist Henryk Szeryng include CDs.
