Herbie Mann was an American jazz flutist known for blending jazz with various world music styles. In 1961, he visited Brazil and recorded with local musicians, contributing to the popularization of bossa nova in the United States. His 1969 album "Memphis Underground" is considered a genre classic. Mann collaborated with artists such as Chick Corea and Roy Ayers. In the 1970s, he founded his own label, Embryo Records.
