Hespèrion XX is a musical ensemble founded in 1974 in Basel by Jordi Savall, Montserrat Figueras, Lorenzo Alpert, and Hopkinson Smith. The group specializes in the performance of medieval and Renaissance music, utilizing historical instruments and authentic performance techniques. Notable recordings include "Llibre Vermell de Montserrat" (1979), "Cansós de Trobaritz" (1978), and "Music from Christian and Jewish Spain, 1450-1550" (1976). Hespèrion XX has received several awards, including the Grand Prix de l'académie du Disque Français and the Edison-Prijs Amsterdam.
