Hypnosonics was an American alternative rock band formed by Mark Sandman in 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts. The band was known for their energetic live performances and unique sound that blended elements of rock and indie rock. Notable albums include "Drums Were Beating: Fort Apache Studios 1996" and "Someone Stole My Shoes: Beyond the Q Division Sessions". Hypnosonics was often considered Sandman's "secret" project; he was also a member of the bands Morphine and Treat Her Right. The band ceased activity following Sandman's death in 1999.
