The Ian Gillan Band was an English progressive jazz-rock group formed by singer Ian Gillan in 1975 after his departure from Deep Purple. The band released three studio albums: "Child in Time" (1976), "Clear Air Turbulence" (1977), and "Scarabus" (1977). Their music blended elements of progressive rock and jazz fusion. In 1978, they released the live album "Live at the Budokan," recorded during a 1977 concert in Tokyo. The band disbanded in 1978 when Gillan formed a new group named Gillan.
